I’ve had this post planned for a while now but I’ve had so many favourites throughout the month of August, it’s been difficult to narrow them down to just a select few. Nevertheless, I think I’ve finally got there so, without further or do, here are my August Favourites. As always, I’ll leave links at the end about all of the products, just in case you want to find out more information.
Handbag, Marks & Spencer, £45
I’m someone who likes to have a bag that will fit the kitchen sink so, as soon as I saw this bag in Marks & Spencers, I knew it was the one for me! There are a couple of things I like about this bag, firstly the size is great, there are plenty of secret compartments to stash away all your bits and bobs. Secondly, I love the three colours, I think they’re really unusual but are still colours that would match with everyday outfits and finally, in the pouch at the front, there is a small clutch like bag that you can pull out and use separately. So when you think about it, it’s like you get two bags for one!
Maybelline New York, Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer
I’ve found this concealer to be really handy to have in my bag throughout August. When the weather gets too hot, you sometimes need to just touch up your make-up and cover up the odd blemish. This Super Stay concealer by Maybelline gives good coverage and fairly light on the skin. Despite this, I wouldn’t say it gives the 24 hour coverage that it states (who wears make-up for that long anyway?!) but it does last for the majority of the day, so for a high street product, I’d say that’s pretty good.
Red Leopard Print Dress, Dorothy Perkins, £32
I first noticed this dress because of the colour. I love how bright and vibrant the red is but I also love the leopard print collar. Over the past few months, I’ve had a little obsession with leopard print and I like that this dress includes it without being too much. Even though a shift dress, this one nicely keeps it’s shape and is very comfortable.
Leopard Print Mid-Heels, Dorothy Perkins, £29
As soon as I spotted these shoes I thought they were a perfect match for my new dress. I thought that by matching the leopard collar to the shoes would complete and bring the whole outfit together. Not only that, but the heels aren’t too high so I will be able to walk still!
2013/14 Academic Diary, WHSmith, £11.99
What with university coming up and generally just being someone who constantly has to write lists and notes to remember things, this diary will hopefully will come in pretty handy. I love the floral pattern on the cover and it has plenty of room to write in with a page for each day. It’ll be something to put in my new handbag!
Is It Just Me? by Miranda Hart, WHSmith, £7.99
If you’re a fan of watching Miranda on TV, I’m am almost certain that you will love her book. Last month I finally found time to read it and I thought it was very very funny indeed. Her book is part autobiography, so it’s interesting to find out more about Miranda herself yet she also chats about everyday dilemmas such as the ‘cold bed dance,’ to working in an office and the stationary cupboard. The thing I loved most about this book however, was that I could hear Miranda’s voice telling it, and for me, that’s what really brought it to life. I’d definitely recommend you give this one a read!
Hall & Oates – You Make My Dreams Come True
Now, I’m not sure whether to laugh, cry, be embarrassed or proud to admit this, but throughout August, this has been the most played song on my iPod. If I’m honest, I’d never heard of 70′s duo, Hall & Oates, but after hearing this song in a film, I’ve just fallen in love with it. Honestly, if you haven’t heard this song, seriously, you’re missing out – have a listen now!
So they’re my August Favourites! Let me know what your favourites are at the minute in the comments or if you’ve written a Favourites post, leave your link below!
